What is Camtasia?
Camtasia is a program that makes it simple to record and create professional-looking videos on your personal computer (Windows or Mac).
How does Camtasia compare to Kaltura Personal Capture?
Camtasia is a more sophisticated application than Kaltura Personal Capture. While both tools allow you to record video on your computer, the editing capabilities of Camtasia are significantly more advanced than those of Kaltura Capture.
However, Kaltura Capture is free – not only can you use it, but so can your students. Camtasia is not free.
What can I do with Camtasia videos?
Once you create a video with Camtasia, you can upload it to your MyMedia page in Canvas, or use it in any other way you would use a video.
How do I obtain Camtasia?
Camtasia is not a free application, but you can download a free trial version from https://www.techsmith.com/video-editor.html.
The college has obtained a number of Camtasia licenses for those involved in the development of online courses.
If you are interested in obtaining a Camtasia license, contact CCS and we can discuss options with you. (Please do not buy until you check with us, as we can potentially obtain discounted pricing for you.)
