ECE Undergraduate Grade Waiver Policy & Form

Grade Waiver Policy

A student obtaining a grade of "D" in an engineering science course or in an electrical or computer engineering technical elective may make a formal request for a waiver of the COE's requirement that students must obtain a grade of "C- or better" in each and every engineering course. The waiver cannot be used for required electrical engineering courses. In order for the waiver to be granted the student must have: (1) a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better, (2) a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better in all mathematics, basic sciences, and engineering sciences courses (including any waived courses), and (3) a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better in all electrical engineering technical electives.

If a student earns a "D" in a prerequisite course, they may request to have that specific prerequisite waived thus enabling them to take the course that they are missing the prerequisite in. Please note that the student will still need to retake the course they received the "D" in and earn a C or higher. The request form for this is located in your Academic Advisor's office.
