Researchers Expand Understanding of Vortex Spread in Superfluids
An international team of scientists featuring FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and Florida State University researchers has developed a model that predicts the spread of vortices in so-called superfluids, work that provides new insight into the physics that governs turbulence in quantum fluid systems such as superfluid neutron stars.
Florida Center For Advanced Aero-Propulsion Advances Aerospace Industry “Top Gun” Style
Walking out of the latest “Top Gun” movie, you might remember the iconic catchphrase, “I feel the need for speed.” Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise, said those famous words in the 1986 movie, and they became the mantra of NAVY fighter pilots pushing their limits with the aerodynamics of flight. That’s the movies, but what about real life?

Engineering Students Design Four-Legged Lunar Robot for NASA’s BIG Idea Challenge
Ever watch a cockroach scurry about, with its flat armored body that slips in a crack and then flies through the air? Before you swat that pesky creature, you might want to think about the engineering feat that insect just accomplished. That’s what Jonathan Clark does; it’s kind of a thing for the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering associate professor of mechanical engineering.
