Engineering alumna elected to serve on the FSU Alumni Association Board of Directors

Mahogany B. Newell received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Florida State University) from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in 2002 and was recently elected to serve on the FSU Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. Newell was selected via competitive selection process from a pool of over 80 applicants. She’s the first board member from the college.

FAMU-FSU Engineering NSBE chapter wins big at 2018 annual conference

On March 22, 2018, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering student chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) was awarded Southeastern Region III Chapter of the Year. This region encompasses five states and the Bahamas. Representing the college, 56 NSBE chapter members attended the 44th annual convention in Pittsburgh. This is the first time since 2006 the chapter has won the award.

FAMU-FSU Engineering students place third in AMIE Design Challenge at 2019 BEYA conference

Eight freshmen engineering students from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering won third place in the Advancing Minorities Interest in Engineering (AMIE) Design Challenge. The event was hosted at the Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) conference held in February, 2019 in Washington, D.C. A total of 11 teams from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) participated in the event.

Established in 2010, the Florida State University Garnet & Gold Scholar Society facilitates student involvement and recognizes undergraduate students who excel within and beyond the classroom in at least three of five areas: international experience, internship, leadership, research and service.

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering today announced that Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, has donated electronic engineering measurement equipment to establish a new Measurement and Instrumentation Laboratory.
