In a new study, researchers at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering are advancing the power of high-performance computing powered by artificial intelligence (AI) to combat blood disorders like thrombosis that cause heart attacks and strokes.

Their findings will advance therapeutics with new tools to break up blood clots and save lives.

Ralm Ricarte, a biomedical engineering faculty member, was recently recognized for his work as a mentor to undergraduate students in the FSU Honors in the Major program.

A record three faculty mentors who helped students with Honors thesis projects were recognized at the annual Florida State University Faculty Awards Celebration in April at the Augustus B. Turnbull III Florida State Conference Center.

Top administrators at Florida A&M University celebrated their outstanding principal investigators and researchers during the 13th Annual Principal Investigators Appreciation and Researchers of the Year Awards Luncheon in April 2024. Subramanian Ramarkrishnan, Ph.D., a faculty member in the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and FAMU, was named a Distinguished Researcher by the university.

JP Romero, a biomedical engineering student at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, was recently awarded an FSU IDEA grant from the Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CRE).

The grant, funded by the Steve Madden Undergraduate Research Award at Florida State University, will enable Romero to continue his research to help fight cardiovascular disease with new 3-D chip technology.

Simeon Newman received the American Chemical Society award for best undergraduate poster in the Division of Polymeric Materials Science and Engineering (PMSE) for his project entitled, “Progress in the Development of Modular Gylcopolymers Tailored to Inhibit Norovirus Infections.”

He is an undergraduate chemical engineering student at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and Florida A&M University. 

Florida State University has recognized eight outstanding faculty members with the Developing Scholar Award, which recognizes associate professors’ research and creative contributions. FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and FSU faculty member Hadi Mohammadigoushki, in the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, was one of the 2024 awardees.

Last night, we celebrated our amazing faculty and staff at the 2024 College Employee & Faculty Awards Banquet at Southwood Golf Club. It was a great event with a packed house. Subramanian Ramakrishnan, a FAMU-FSU College of Engineering professor in the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering, was recently awarded a $300,000 grant from NASA to inspire students to participate in research for the science agency and to pursue STEM degrees.

They will get valuable training and help build next-generation sensors needed for NASA’s space program.
