Sebastian Castro found a welcoming and supportive environment at Florida State University and was drawn to its programs and campus beauty.

As a Presidential Scholar and undergraduate in chemical engineering, he said he received invaluable support and connected with a special community of students.

The graduate programs in the nation’s only joint engineering college are among the best in Florida and the nation, according to the latest rankings published in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 edition of “Best Graduate Schools.”  

The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering moved up one spot among public institutions with a No. 60 ranking nationally and tied for third overall among Florida public universities.  

An entrepreneurial team of FAMU-FSU College of Engineering students placed second in the Florida Blue Healthcare Innovation Challenge on April 26th, 2024 in Tampa. 

Named CerviCare, the team of senior engineering students won $5,000 from the healthcare giant for the innovative CerviTech endoscope they designed for cervical cancer screening. If successful, the device may lower the manufacturing cost of screening devices and increase the affordability and accessibility of exams for patients nationwide.

Four FAMU-FSU College of Engineering are some of the Florida State University (FSU) researchers helping develop sustainable solutions to challenges facing the global community, thanks to support from the FSU's Office of the President’s Sustainability and Climate Solutions seed grant investment.

Ashley David has always been a competitor. She was a Florida State University track team member while getting her bachelor’s in biomedical engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in 2023. She is now an engineering graduate student at Stanford University.
