Partnership with Dow expands opportunities for undergraduate research students

Florida A&M University (FAMU) was one of five Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in late 2020 to benefit from a $5M investment from Dow Inc. The partnership enriches the Black STEM talent pipeline, and the investment is making a real difference for students like Kemah Tah.

Tah is a sophomore in chemical engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and had the opportunity to work in undergraduate research as a Dow Scholar.

Using machine learning and artificial intelligence, engineering researcher harnesses the power of small-experiment design

Lichun Li, an assistant professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, is the principle investigator for a new grant funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to investigate the modeling method of dynamic systems based on partial system information and limited number of experiments.

Cradle of Innovation

From nanoparticles all the way to outer space, engineering faculty are developing the materials and manufacturing of the future

The High Performance Materials Institute (HPMI) is a “village” that utilizes the talents of its multidisciplinary researchers to create and refine cutting-edge materials to revolutionize science and commerce. It’s also the main research center for the FAMUFSU College of Engineering’s Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME).
