First-Generation College Student and Future Engineering Faculty Member Awarded with McKnight Doctoral Fellowship

When Franchesca Bellevu received the news in April 2024 that she had received the respected McKnight Fellowship, she saw it as one step closer to her dream of being a professor.

Bellevu graduated from Florida State University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and manufacturing engineering. She is working on her doctorate from Florida A&M University at the joint college.

Subramanian Ramarkrishnan, Ph.D., a faculty member in the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and FAMU, was named a Distinguished Researcher by the university.

Mechanical Engineering Professor Receives 2024 Distinguished Scientist Award from the Microscopy Society of America

The Microscopy Society of America (MSA) recently named Murray Gibson, a mechanical engineering professor at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, as the Distinguished Scientist (Physical Sciences) for 2024. The award honors Gibson’s work in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) applied to a variety of materials problems over his career.
