A new study focuses on improving the accuracy of prediction models related to crash statistics, aiming to make roads safer and better allocate infrastructure resources in the Sunshine State.

In the U.S., over 80 billion pounds of food waste is discarded annually, and the bulk of it is deposited in landfills. Beyond the storage issue, food waste emits methane, contributing to 11% of the world’s total greenhouse gas emissions. 

In a new Department of Energy (DOE) study, FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and Florida A&M University (FAMU) researchers have discovered a new method to convert food waste into sustainable energy. Their discovery may revolutionize the way food waste is processed for fuel and help promote a sustainable energy source for the future.

Every year, sun glare contributes to around 3,000 crashes in the United States. FAMU-FSU College of Engineering researchers are helping to mitigate this problem by examining what drivers are likely to do when faced with sun glare. Their work was published in Transportation Research Record.

Dr. Soronadi Nnaji passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023. He would have been 80 years old on August 12, 2023.

He was one of the founding faculty of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and was the third departmental chair. It is my sincere opinion that Dr. Soro Nnaji was a giant on whose shoulders all of the department stands.

A new study by Ebrahim Ahmadisharaf, a researcher at the Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response Center and the civil and environmental engineering department in the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, will help residents in Bay County, Florida, to prepare.
