The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has demonstrated significant progress in national recognition, advancing four positions to secure the No. 56 ranking among public engineering graduate programs with doctorate degrees in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report’s edition of Best Graduate Schools.
Four of the college’s specialized graduate engineering programs gained ground in this year’s rankings, with biomedical, electrical, industrial and mechanical engineering all showing upward momentum. These improvements highlight the college's expanding research capabilities and educational excellence.
According to Suvranu De, dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, the college’s distinctive joint partnership between Florida A&M University and Florida State University continues to create valuable opportunities for students and faculty.
“We’re building momentum through collaborative research initiatives and preparing graduates who are ready to make meaningful contributions to society,” De said. “As we continue investing in our people and programs, I’m confident we’ll see our national prominence rise even further in the coming years.”
This upward trajectory reflects the college’s strategic focus on interdisciplinary innovation, research excellence and preparing engineers equipped to address complex global challenges. The improved rankings demonstrate the growing strength of the college’s graduate programs in attracting top talent and producing impactful research.
U.S. News & World Report evaluates engineering graduate programs annually using data on enrollment, faculty achievements, research funding, laboratory facilities and other quality indicators. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering's consistent improvement in these metrics signals its commitment to becoming a premier destination for engineering education and research.
