Roger Dale England, Ph.D. currently serves as the Technical Director for Valvoline, Inc. Formerly, he was the Director of Materials Science and Technology for Cummins, Inc., where he led intellectual property, technical quality, metallurgy, chemistry and materials processing.
England holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Florida State University through the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering; a MS in metallurgical engineering from University of Cincinnati and a BS in mechanical engineering from Purdue.
England either serves on or has participated in the Steering Committee for Neutron Sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL); as an adviser to the Center for Materials Processing at the University of Tennessee; as a Visiting Scientist at ORNL; as a member of the advisory committee of the Mechanical Engineering Tribology Laboratory at Purdue University; as a member of Mechanical Engineering Advisory Council at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering; on the steering committee of the Thermal Spray Consortium at Stony Brook University; and as an adviser to the Low Energy Neutron Source at Indiana University.
England is married and has 11 grandchildren. His hobbies include all forms of auto racing, where he has competed as a driver in the 2016 Baja 1000 and the 2017 Mint 400 desert races, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and various dirt track racing series. England is a former national record-holder and Nitro Funny Car Crew Chief in NHRA Drag Racing and an adviser for NASCAR and IRL racing teams.
In April 2018, he was honored as a Distinguished Alumni in the FAMU-FSU Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering.
