SSUA is responsible for administering undergraduate academic policies and procedures at the college and for providing academic services and support to students. Potential applicants seeking more information are encouraged to visit our Student Services page and homepage.
Responsibilities
This invitation to apply covers one full-time instructor who will also serve as Director of the Engineering Living Learning Community (ELLC) at FSU. The instructor will work collaboratively to establish a welcoming and supportive environment for our first-year engineering students and will teach multiple sections of First-Year Engineering Lab (FYEL). The FYEL course orients students to engineering, the disciplines offered, degree requirements, and the engineering profession. The course helps students develop communication and problem-solving skills and acclimates them to project-based learning. The ELLC director will collaborate with departments and other FYEL instructors on curriculum development, designing class projects, assessment, and teaching as needed.
In addition, the instructor will participate in new student orientation and advising, facilitate student participation in engagement activities, coordinate with pre-engineering advisors and department major advisors, collaborate with other college staff (recruitment coordinator, director of student engagement, and director of student access) to increase retention, and help monitor retention rates and other performance-based metrics.
