Did you know you could do exciting, hands-on research with some of the best engineers and scientists—and get paid for it? Our faculty are tackling some of the most pressing challenges of our time—and they want you on their teams.

What is EUREKA?

EUREKA - Engineering Undergraduate Research, Exploration, and Knowledge Advancement is a paid research fellowship for undergraduates aspiring to pursue a Ph.D. at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Research opportunities span the “engineering village” within Tallahassee’s Innovation Park, which includes the MagLab, the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), the Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP), the HighPerformance Materials Institute (HPMI), the Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response (RIDER) Center, and the Interdisciplinary Research and Commercialization Building (IRCB)— a quantum science and engineering hub. The network extends to the InSPIRE Institute in Panama City for applied research in aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing.

By working directly with faculty on cutting-edge research projects, students:

  • Apply classroom theory to real-world problems
  • Strengthen their critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Develop intellectual curiosity and resilience in the face of complex challenges
  • Apply for a PhD and choose research as a career after graduation

Potential engineering research areas include:

  • Aerospace
  • AI
  • Biomedical
  • Chemical
  • Civil
  • Computer
  • Electrical
  • Industrial
  • Materials
  • Mechanical
  • Quantum

Why join EUREKA?

  • Hourly stipend
  • Mentorship within a faculty research group
  • Funds for conferences or research supplies
  • Waived application fees for PhD applications may be available
