Lisa Spainhour, Ph.D., P.E., has been appointed Chair of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). Lisa has served as interim chair for the past two years. “Lisa demonstrated her excellent leadership skills as interim chair, and I am looking forward to working with her to grow the department’s impact in the coming years,” said J. Murray Gibson, dean of the college.
Spainhour is excited to serve as chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.“Our faculty and students have been making tremendous strides in the past few years, in everything from research expenditures to K-12 outreach,” she said. “I’m looking forward to building on that momentum, and even more so, I’m thrilled to be telling the story of all of the great things our students and faculty are doing.”
Currently, the department has 25 tenure-line faculty across Tallahassee and Panama City campuses, as well as three Professors Emeritus and six professional staff members. Over the past few years, the department bestowed the inaugural CEE Graduate Student Excellence Awards, hired its first Professor of Practice and saw its student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) win multiple national awards, including National Advisor of the Year and finalist for the Ridgway award in 2018.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Spainhour and the CEE department.
