The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has long been a place where future engineers ignite their passion for innovation, forge lifelong friendships and find a true sense of belonging.
For Jeffrey Jordan and Michelle Mathious Jordan, this vibrant campus became the foundation of their academic journeys—and the beginning of their remarkable love story.
Jeffrey Jordan was an accomplished engineer and corporate leader, serving as Senior Controls Manager for AT&T. He and his wife, Michelle, both earned their bachelor’s degrees—Jeffrey in electrical engineering, Michelle in chemical engineering—at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida. Their shared journey later took them to Dallas, where Jeffrey passed away in March 2025.
“As a proud FAMU Rattler and a graduate of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in chemical engineering, this institution is woven into the fabric of my life,” Michelle said. “In fact, my late husband, Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Jordan and I met in the engineering building. That building is where our love story started, grounding a lifetime of shared dreams, laughter and purpose.”
“Jeff went on to become a proud FAMU Rattler, dedicated engineer, mentor, avid golfer and servant leader who ultimately passed away after a courageous battle with cancer,” Michelle said. “To honor his incredible life and legacy, my sons and I established the Jeffrey Jordan Legacy Scholarship at Florida A&M University. The scholarship supports Florida-based students attending FAMU, with priority consideration for aspiring engineers, student golfers and students whose lives have been impacted by cancer.”
The scholarship stands as a living tribute to Jeffrey Jordan’s spirit of generosity, empowering students to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams—just as he did.
To celebrate Jeffrey’s life and launch this meaningful initiative, the Jordan family will host the inaugural Jeffrey Jordan Legacy Scholarship Golf Tournament in Stone Mountain, Georgia, on Sept. 12, 2026. Every swing and every contribution at this event will help fuel the scholarship fund, ensuring Jeffrey’s legacy inspires and uplifts students for generations to come.
