Florida State University’s annual Seminole 100 awards ceremony celebrated a milestone achievement for four distinguished FAMU-FSU College of Engineering alumni, recognizing their contributions to technological innovation and economic growth across the Southeast.
The February 22, 2025 ceremony, held at FSU’s Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, showcased the remarkable achievements of alumni-led enterprises that exemplify excellence in engineering and entrepreneurship.
Leading Through Infrastructure Innovation

Robert George, P.E. (Civil Engineering ‘92), president and founder of George & Associates, Consulting Engineers, Inc. (G&A), has transformed the infrastructure landscape of the Southeast since establishing his firm in 1997. G&A’s current initiatives include civil design for FSU’s Women’s Lacrosse Facility and the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Building C. The firm, which employs six joint college alumni and one postgraduate student, leads the design team for Tallahassee’s transformative Airport Gateway project’s Springhill Road segment.
“As a proud Seminole 100 honoree, I am grateful to give back to the community that has shaped my career,” George said. “I’m honored to represent FSU and contribute to projects on campus that have a lasting impact.”
Advancing Public Infrastructure
Christopher Forehand, P.E. (Civil Engineering ‘97), president of Panhandle Engineering Inc., has secured over $300 million in grants for public infrastructure enhancement. His firm’s innovative approach to engineering solutions has established new standards for government and private sector partnerships in Panama City, Florida.

“The panhandle of Florida is young and has much potential,” Forehand noted. “There is a promising future when it comes to advancing technology in the region.”
Forehand’s son, Cason, is now pursuing a degree in civil engineering at the college and will continue in the family business.
Structural Engineering Excellence
Adam Russell, P.E. (Civil Engineering ‘09), co-founder and Executive Vice President of Russell Rowland, Inc., represents the next generation of structural engineering innovation. Since 2018, his Jacksonville-based firm has designed over 5,500 structures and expanded its operations across 11 states, earning multiple industry accolades.
“The collaborative environment at the college taught me the importance of diverse perspectives,” Russell explained. “Today, I encourage open dialogue within my team and foster collective problem-solving to deliver innovative solutions for our clients.”

Entrepreneurial Leadership in Technology
Jason Pernell (Electrical Engineering ‘01, MBA ‘05), CEO and founder of Trulieve, brings nearly two decades of entrepreneurial experience to the medical cannabis industry. His expertise in developing critical data systems has positioned his Tallahassee-based company at the forefront of technological innovation in regulated industries.
The Seminole 100, presented by the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship and the Florida State Alumni Association, continues to showcase the transformative impact of FSU engineering education on regional economic development and technological advancement.
