Building Mentorship Connections will be held at 3PM at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering located at 2525 Pottsdamer Street, Tallahassee, FL 32310 in Building A, Room A-115.

The Gulf Scholars Program presents Building Mentorship Connections, a workshop for undergraduate students led by Dr. Sophia Rahming, an Associate Director at the FSU Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Dr. Rahming is an expert on relationship-building in STEM including the mentee-mentor relationship and in methods to support diversity and equity in STEM fields. She bridges her knowledge of STEM identity construction with tangible approaches to mentorship in this workshop focused on how to be in a successful and transformative mentor relationship. 

 

This workshop is open to any FAMU or FSU undergrad!

 

In this 90 min workshop you will learn:

  • The benefits of having a mentor
  • Tips for finding the right mentor for you at the right time
  • How to be a supportive mentee
  • Elements of a successful and healthy mentorship relationship
  • The difference between mentors and advocates
