Description: MingYu2004

Brief Biography

Dr. Ming Yu received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, in 2002, and Doctor of Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, in 1994, all in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

§  He joined AT&T in July 1997 as a Senior Technical Staff Member. He participated in the projects of Next New Switch (NNS), the largest switch ever built by AT&T systems, and AT&T Network Service With Expert Rule (ANSWER). Since June 1999, he was with the ATM Networking Department of AT&T Labs, Middletown, NJ. There he pursued research and development on the projects of ATM Network Performance Management, ATM Traffic Measurement and Modeling. After that, he worked for startup companies in broadband networks. From December 2002, he worked for the IP/Data NMS Engineering Department, AT&T Labs, where he worked on a switch element management system (EMS) and investigated the MPLS Alarm Correlations and fault management of the IP backbone network.

§  During 2003 and 2006, he was with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, as an assistant professor.

§  As of August 2006, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Florida A&M University (FAMU) – Florida State University (FSU) College of Engineering, Tallahassee, FL. Currently he is a full professor.

Dr. Yu was a winner of the IEEE Millennium Medal, awarded by the IEEE USA on May 2000. He is a senior member of the IEEE.

Research Interests

Dr. Yu’s research is about how to improve the security and performance of computer and communication networks with major applications to various embedded systems and cyber-physical systems (CPS):
