Be an Engineering Mentor

Make a difference and boost your resume! The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Peer Mentorship Program seeks motivated and friendly upper-division engineering students to serve as mentors for our incoming freshmen and transfer students. If you are interested, please fill out this link by August 9th, 2021. Matches will begin being sent out the week before school starts and we ask that you reach out to your Mentee at least once before August 24th, the first day of classes. If you have any questions, please email us

Benefits/Requirements of being a Mentor:

  • Minimum of having passed all pre-engineering requirements and entering third year of college or beyond
  • Attend a 1 hour Zoom or in-person pre-meeting the week before school starts
  • Attend 1 virtual Zoom or in-person meeting a month with your Mentee, hosted by the Mentorship Program
  • Check in virtually (text, email, Zoom) with your Mentee during the third week of each month
  • Looks great on a resume and shows eagerness to give back to the community
  • Helps welcome new students to the COE, easing their college transition as they start to feel more involved with the college—even if they aren't on-campus

Become an Engineering Mentee

Engineering Mentors Want to Assist You! We strongly encourage that every incoming student sign-up for a Peer Mentor this Fall. Please fill out this link by August 9th, 2021 so that we can match you with a mentor who is excited to serve as your guide to navigating these new experiences. You will be matched with a mentor the week before the start of the semester, so you will have time to ask questions and get to know the college before your first day of class.

Your mentor will make themselves available to answer any questions, give advice, or just serve as a point of contact at the College of Engineering. Throughout the semester, the Mentorship Program will host a monthly meet-up via Zoom with interactive experiences featuring engineering student organizations, engineering study tips, and Kahoot games to win prizes! If you have any questions, please email us.
