Seminole Shack Showdown

Seminole Shack Showdown 2015 Gallery

Seminole Shack Showdown is an annual event hosted by FSU and Habitat for Humanity as an effort to generate awareness about substandard living conditions. Various student organizations get together to educate others and raise funds for Habitat for Humanity.

Student organizations design and build wooden shacks which they then live in for four days. These shacks are meant to represent substandard living conditions. The students spend these four days educating other students and "panhandling" (fundraising) to help eliminate substandard living. They also participate in activities both for entertainment and further fundraising efforts.

This year SWE is teaming up with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Sustainable Energy Solutions. Join us in raising awareness and support for Habitat for Humanity and substandard living. Please share this link with friends, family, and colleagues. We look forward to seeing you there!

Thank you to all who donated to help Habitat for Humanity. This year we raised over $1000! If you would still like to donate to the Tallahassee Big Bend Chapter of Habitat for Humanity chapter you can donate on their webpage (Here). We would also like to thank RIPPEE Construction and Budget Printing for sponsoring the shack this year. Their contributions helped us achieve our vision for our shack.

Relay for Life

Relay for Life has kicked off at the College of Engineering with school organizations coming together to support the American Cancer Society. Last year, Engineers for Life, consisting of over six college of engineering organizations, came together to raise over $2500 for the cause. This year the we plan to raise even more by including all COE student organizations. To be apart of Engineers for Life, please visit the Relay for Life home page (Here), search Engineers for Life, and sign up. It's $10 to join the team.

For more information on joining the team or about Relay itself, please contact Amy Miller (am11ac@my.fsu.edu).
