Attention FSU Graduate Students

PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Required Thesis/Dissertation Hours

The university requirement of a minimum of six (6) thesis hours on the transcript, OR twenty-four (24) dissertation hours, still stands (or other minimums set by your department).

Summer Enrollment

ALL graduate students on assistantships/waivers must enroll in a minimum of three (9) credit hours during Summer terms. Enrollment may be regular course work OR thesis/dissertation hours. If the Summer semester is your final term of enrollment, you must have two (2) thesis/dissertation hours as part of, OR in addition to, the three-hour minimum.

Final-Term Enrollment

You must have at least two (2) thesis/dissertation hours during your final term of enrollment.

Underload Permission

All graduate students on assistantships/waivers must have permission from their Academic Dean to register for less than full time enrollment. International Students are permitted to request underload permission during their last term of enrollment in order to take only the courses needed to complete their degree.

Master's Students

IF you are enrolled in thesis hours in any given term, the minimum number of thesis hours is two (2). Graduate students on assistantships/waivers are required to be enrolled full time (9 credit hours in Fall/Spring and 9 credit hours in Summer).

Doctoral Students

IF you have passed the preliminary exam, the minimum number of dissertation hours is two each semester (2) until graduation. Graduate students on assistantships/waivers are required to be enrolled full time (9 credit hours in Fall/Spring and 9 credit hours in Summer).
